7 pounds of weight gain (fat, water, tiny muscle) in 4 weeks after a 90-day diet. And that’s totally cool, fat and all.
I don’t believe in trying to ‘stay the same’.
I see it as spinning wheels. In my opinion, we are either growing (building muscle) or losing fat.
We are either eating a lot of calories in the form of carbs to fuel that performance growth or we are heading towards a keto diet at a lower-calorie level to lose that fat.
Building muscle and losing fat happens effectively in spurts
I believe in encouraging those spurts with cycles. Growing or cutting cycles.
In my opinion, it makes life more enjoyable having large periods of relaxation allowing enjoyment with shorter periods of strictness.
Those periods can be months, weeks or days. It all depends on lifestyle. It all depends on the body’s feedback.
I’ve enjoyed these 4 weeks. Restrictions in the UK eased a little and socialising (🍔🍩🍻) became a priority.
Now it’s time to switch gears into reset mode for a week or so.
My body feels sluggish, I can grab more fat around the waist and the pumps (blood flow and swelling in the muscles during TRX training) has reduced.
I take this as a sign that my insulin sensitivity has decreased and my body is telling me it needs a reset.
So to lose fat…

Losing fat
So for the next week or so, carbs come right down fats go right up and calories lower overall.
TRX Training switches to shorter high-intensity workouts with less volume and the focus is on resetting, detoxing and healing the body of inflammation.
There’s no better indication of when to switch things up, than listening to the body.
It’s incredible what it tells you when the time is taken to feel, observe and reflect.
Have a great day!
