Fitness Secret Behind My 12Lbs of Muscle Gain Transformation With a TRX Suspension Trainer

When I first started out using a suspension trainer, it was 2016 and I was living in Tulum, Mexico.

Not on the coast, but in the little town among the locals.

Everything gets very dusty.

I would workout with the suspension trainer straps over the front door…

Now, imagine that floor with a layer of daily dust on it.

Every suspension trainer row exercise would turn into a water skiing session…

With my feet sliding towards the front door ready to face plant into it.

Other exercises looked like I was Patrick Swayze from Dirty Dancing (minus the grace), feet all over the place.

It made it hard to lock my body in stone and focus on the muscle I wanted to target.

I had to constantly wash and sweep the floor before each workout.

Even then, it wasn’t ideal.

The second challenge was my feet positioning.

I’m a nerd and love to record all data with regards to my health and fitness.

After all, you can’t measure what you don’t track.

I wanted to track my feet positioning so I could make sure I was standing at the same spot for each suspension trainer exercise, workout to workout.

I began marking my feet positioning for every exercise with chalk.

I spent two weeks marking my feet position and recording the rep ranges against it.

Guess what happened?

In the third week a monsoon came.

HOW did I not realise this would obviously happen at some point. Doh.

Months, even years, went by with these two little niggles no matter where I was living.

Why am I sharing this in a fitness post?

Well, thanks to the modern day Instagram DM, a charming chap named James reached out to me.

He was a small solo business owner who had the seen problem I was facing long before I had realised it.

And had very wisely been spending 2 years prior developing the Tyger Matt.

It’s got mega grip for your feet and secures on top of any surface.

Honestly, you don’t know what you’ve been missing until it hits you in the face.

I went from the grip of a 1960’s mini trying to drive on a sand road, to an F1 car at the Monaco race track.

There are also standing point lines and feet position markers with numbers…

Which means you can record the same spot each time you perform an exercise.

For my nerd like obsession, this allowed me to track load, intensity, and volume, against feet positioning…

It was a real game changer.

Because I could now track my progression in terms of stance and angle.

Before, I was just guessing. And great results don’t come from guessing.
