By now, you’ve seen my approach to building lean muscle with a suspension trainer.
You’ve heard a few stories, maybe even tried my Muscle-Centric YouTube Workouts…
Or individual exercise technique tutorials (chest, back, legs, shoulders, biceps, triceps, core).
But I want to share something a little more personal today:
Why I do this in the first place.
Fitness Freedom Athletes isn’t just a business for me.
I do this because I know what it’s like to feel trapped.
For 8+ years, I was a personal trainer stuck in gym culture…and honestly?…
I grew to hate it.
I hated the toxic environment.
The BS marketing.
The ego-driven atmosphere where people felt judged instead of supported.
But more than that, I hated watching busy adults like you struggle:
Struggle to make sessions because of work and family demands…
Feel intimidated walking into packed gyms after exhausting days…
Regard working out as just another chore on an endless to-do list…
Their results were slow.
Their confidence was low.
And they believed there was no other way.
I felt stuck too, because I believed the same lie:
“You HAVE to be in a gym with weights to transform your body.”
That belief cost me years.
It limited where I could travel (I couldn’t be less than 15 mins from a gym).
It affected my mental well-being (the culture).
It kept me dependent on something I didn’t even enjoy anymore.
Then in 2016, I made a decision my colleagues thought was career suicide:
I walked away.
Grabbed a backpack and a TRX suspension trainer and left London to travel South America.
And I discovered something that changed everything:
Your muscles don’t know where you are or what you’re holding.
They only know tension.
That realisation spelled FREEDOM for me.
I could build lean muscle from a beach in Nicaragua.
From a rooftop in Ecuador.
And now 10+ years later, from my home office between my son’s nap times.
And more importantly…
I know what’s on the other side of that freedom now.
I’ve seen what happens when a 60-year-old regains mobility they thought was gone forever.
I’ve seen 40-and-50-year-old fathers build lean muscle they never had, even in their 20s.
I’ve seen busy professionals transform their bodies in 8 weeks from their living rooms…
Feeling more energised for their families than they have in years.
And it’s not just about the physical changes.
It’s about confidence.
Control.
The knowledge that you’re not dependent on gyms, trainers, or anyone else’s schedule.
That’s why I show up.
Not to be another fitness influencer shouting “no pain no gain.”
But to help people like you skip the years I wasted believing the wrong things…
and finally experience what real Fitness Freedom feels like.
