I always wanted to have a lean and sculpted body.
But I used to be stuck in this yo-yo ing of trying to gain muscle, then trying to lose fat.
I’d eat more to gain muscle… start gaining fat… panic… then starve myself to try and get rid of the fat.
This lead to years of binging and restricting.
Never ACTUALLY building any decent muscle, or losing much fat.
I pushed myself harder and harder thinking that was the solution, until I CRASHED.
My will power totally depleted.
In my desperation I stopped doing what ‘I thought was right’ and began studying…
It led me down the path of INSULIN SENSITIVITY.
Which you might know as the current epidemic, insulin resistance i.e diabetes.
Little did I know, THIS dictates how well and easy you can lose fat and build muscle.
And it completely transformed my understanding of ‘fitness’ and my body transformational results.
Think of insulin as a key.
There are millions of cells within our muscles.
Those cells have a door with a keyhole.
Insulin is the key that unlocks that door so nutrients can enter.
The problem is when the body doesn’t have very good insulin sensitivity, that key (insulin) doesn’t work in the muscle cells…
Because they are resistant to it.
So they can’t intake the nutrient you eat from food.
That’s not good for your muscle cells to repair and grow.
Even worse, fat cells don’t have a key hole.
They have an open door.
They don’t suffer from insulin resistance.
So guess where your body dumps the nutrients when it can’t give it to your muscle cells…
That’s RIGHT. It all goes straight into your fat cells.
No matter how much you exercise, or restrict your food…
If you have poor insulin sensitivity, you’ll find it almost impossible to lose fat or build muscle.
Trust me, I was a personal trainer who used to live in a gym and I failed trying every ‘diet fad’ under the sun.
Here’s why it’s so important to improve your insulin sensitivity…
When we exercise a muscle, blood flow to that muscle increases up to 80% more than normal.
So, if we have more blood flowing to the muscle it makes perfect sense to get the nutrition to it in the fastest way possible.
And the two key nutrition elements the muscle wants after a workout is:
- Protein (amino acids)
- Carbohydrates
So we want to get as many keys (insulin) to our muscle cells as possible.
So they open the doors and the muscle cells can intake the protein and carbs.
If you have poor insulin sensitivity the muscle cell doors won’t open.
So they can’t intake the nutrient to repair and grow.
The food you eat goes straight into your fat cells instead.
You can now understand why insulin is the number one growth hormone because of what it does.
If you can’t feed your muscle cells, you’re constantly feeding your fat cells.
This is why you’re struggling to transform your body.
In the “Beach Body Program” you’ll uncover how to change your nutrition to keep your insulin sensitivity in peak condition…
