This awesome Cuban grandma let me workout in her garden… then joined in!
It was 9 years ago and I was travelling Central America with my trusty steed, a suspension trainer.
I stayed in Vinales, Cuba and rented a room from this wonderful lady.
She became fascinated by the suspension trainer and asked if she could try it.
1 set of Back Rows, which I advised she start with as I could see her posture needed improvement…
Turned into a few 10-minute coaching sessions…
Which turned into her using the suspension trainer quite a few times as she grew more confident.
A month went by and I had to leave.
So I left the suspension trainer with her and a workout plan jotted down.

18 months later I was back in Cuba and called in to see her.
Guess what?
She still had the suspension trainer hanging and the plan on a shelf.
She looked in better shape.
Sounds ‘cliche’, but in all seriousness she had stayed consistent with it, lost a little weight, and looked and moved great for her 60 years of age.
Working out with the suspension trainer in her garden gave her the consistency to remain active.
There are no gyms in Vinales. No weights. No supplement shops.
Because she focused on slow, controlled technique, and used the suspension trainer to work with her body shape…
She saw and felt step-by-step progression after each workout.
