I get this question ALL the time. And I used to obsess over it myself.

But here’s the truth that took me years to discover… They both build exactly the same amount of muscle.

The External vs Internal Battle

Back when I was caught up in gym culture, I was that guy obsessing over everything external.

How heavy could I lift?

What did I look like while lifting?

What were others thinking of my form?

I was completely missing the point.

I was so externally focused on my environment because I believed being in a gym was the only place to build lean muscle and transform my body.

Because here’s the thing…

Your muscles don’t know what you’re holding or where you are.

They don’t care if it’s a TRX, resistance band, or fancy gym equipment.

All they know is the TENSION you can place upon them through a range of motion.

The Mind-Muscle Revolution

This is where everything changed for me…

I discovered that building muscle happens in the mind.

It’s completely internal. Hence, the mind-muscle connection.

When I finally let go of my ego and started focusing internally, constantly practicing my mind muscle connection, my results exploded.

Here’s what that means:

  • feeling every muscle fiber stretch
  • powerfully contracting each muscle
  • using perfect technique with every movement
  • creating constant tension through the full range of motion

The problem is, most people are stuck where I was…
