I was reading a book to my son yesterday, ‘Peace At Last’ by Jill Murphy.
It’s about a daddy bear who ends up tired and worn out.
Which isn’t too far off how my 1-1 coaching clients feel when they first reach out.
It got me thinking about the 3 areas I change to boost their energy, health, and longevity…
Firstly, get their body functioning as a high-performance machine.
Which means optimal hormone levels, metabolic flexibility, and productive focus (no brain fog).
Eating right doesn’t just mean getting your veg in.
It requires taking a step back to look at the root cause of a sluggish body.
Having worked with thousands of clients, I can tell you 99% of the time that’s poor insulin sensitivity.
If your muscle and functional cells are insulin resistant, even by a little bit…
They can’t absorb the nutrients from food to repair and grow correctly.
Which means fat gain, low muscle mass and energy are inevitable.
Even if you’re eating healthy-ish, it won’t make a difference if your insulin sensitivity is poor.
Follow a diet that keeps your insulin sensitivity optimal.
Secondly, you must increase and maintain lean muscle mass.
Your body is 33% muscle cells.
That’s 1/3 of your body. It’s essential to prioritise muscle health.
Your muscle cells control a huge number of functions in your body.
You not only lose movement from lack of muscle strength.
But also slow your body down from a weaker overall system.
You can’t build muscle without having good insulin sensitivity.
Muscle cells are insulin regulators too.
Points 1 and 2 work together and positively compound over time.
Finally, your mental well-being.
I wish I had the time to meditate.
But with a busy business and family life, I don’t.
So instead, I use my suspension trainer workouts at home as meditation.
I focus on one thing, the muscles I am targeting throughout the entire workout.
One focus for an extended period is a form of mediation.
I finish feeling de-stressed, calmer, and grounded.
You can use your body to master your mind through workouts.
With a busy work and family life, your time is precious.
You don’t have hours to spend at the gym or the energy to waste on ‘fad diets’ that don’t deliver.
Choose a practical, proven approach that fits into your demanding schedule.
And become a serious student of your body…especially about insulin sensitivity and building lean muscle.
They are the linchpins that hold everything else together for your health and longevity.
