This one’s personal…
Being a new dad has been incredible. Pure joy. But it’s also kicked my butt in ways I never expected.
You know that foggy-headed, irritable feeling when you’re running on empty?
That was me most days.
The constant colds from soft play visits (why do those places always lead to sniffles?)…
The mood swings from broken sleep…
And the struggle of motivation to maintain my fitness when I barely had energy to function.
Sound familiar?
I knew I needed a boost.
So I turned to supplements (don’t worry no supplements to sell here).
I’ve always used supps for health and fitness. Normally rotating them depending on goals and seasons.
Here’s what I turned to to help with being a new parent:
Reishi mushroom extract: To help boost immunity.
Cordyceps mushroom extract: For a natural energy boost
Ashwagandha root extract: To clear the mental fog
And I also took 3 types of magnesium:
Magnesium malate for mood…
Magnesium bisglycinate to fight body inflammation that comes with stress…
And magnesium taurate for blood sugar balance and aid with energy.
It’s not a magic formula that will eradicate the challenges of new parenthood, but it helped me.
Supplements alone aren’t enough though.
It’s CRUCIAL to maintain muscle mass as you age.
Remember my mantra? Muscle is life.
I squeeze in quick suspension trainer muscle-building workouts during my son’s naps. Right here in my office.
No gym needed.
No wasted commute time.
Just focused, muscle-centric technique that maintains strength and keeps my body performing at its best.
(And yes, I’m biased towards suspension training. But as a dad, I find it more accessible for lean muscle than it has ever been.)
Listen, if you’re a parent struggling right now, I get it. Really.
But you don’t have to choose between being a great parent and feeling strong and fit.
You just need the right tools and approach.
Try those supps and start with just one suspension trainer workout between naps or meetings.
Focus on that mind-muscle connection…
Feel the tension in each movement…
And watch how your body (and mind) transform, even in the chaos of parent life.
Here’s to strengthening while parenting,

P.S: Remember: isolation and tension beat mindless movement every time. More on this next.
